The lineups for these 10-lap heat races were determined by speeds in Wednesday’s pair of practice sessions. The top five finishers in each of the five qualifying races automatically advanced to the Eldora Dirt Derby, and those who did not automatically advance were entered in a sixth qualifying race called the “Last Chance” race.Chase Briscoe, the winner of last year’s Eldora Dirt Derby, started on the pole after winning the first qualifying race. The annual Eldora Dirt Derby has become something of a crown jewel in the Gander Outdoors Truck Series, and as the only dirt race across NASCAR’s three premier national series, it is a highlight on America’s racing calendar.The seventh annual Eldora Dirt Derby, which took the green flag Thursday at 9 p.m. ET after five qualifying races set the field a couple hours prior, was the 15th and most exciting race on the NASCAR Truck Series schedule. Its exclusivity as a dirt race also came with a unique qualifying format that made for a long, action-packed night of racing on the half-mile in western Ohio.
