first_imgDES MOINES, Iowa – Drake University head women’s golf coach Rachael Pruett unveiled a challenging five-tournament schedule for 2016 that will be highlighted by the Missouri Valley Conference Women’s Golf Championship in Chicago, Ill. (April 17-19).“I’m very proud of the work ethic the ladies have shown this year. Ending our fall season with a team and individual win gives us extra motivation for our off-season. We will continue to improve our physical fitness, golf swings, short games, and mental skills,” said Pruett. “The spring schedule is designed to keep us competing. That’s where we need to improve the most. We practice and play very well at home and need to learn to translate that onto the course in competition.”The Bulldogs open the spring campaign at the FGCU Eagle Invitational on Feb. 12-14 in Estero, Fla. at the Stoneybrook Golf Club. After being off for three weeks, Drake returns to action on March 5-6 for the Red Rock Invitational in Sedona, Ariz. at the Oakcreek Country Club, hosted by Northern Arizona. The Bulldogs will wrap up the month of March at The Citadel Invitational on March 13-15 in Charleston, S.C. at the Patriot Point Links.Drake will take two weeks off before playing its first tournament in the Midwest on April 2-3 at the Bradley Invitational in Peoria, Ill. at the Weaver Ridge Golf Club.The Bulldogs will get its final tune-up before the MVC Championship on April 9-11 at the Indiana State Invitational. The team wraps up the regular season at the conference championship on April 17-19 in Chicago at the Harborside International Golf Center.Print Friendly Versionlast_img
